All by the grace of God!
Inspired by God’s altruistic, unconditional and sacrificial love, Love For Australia (LFA) is a family-run local food relief charity supporting people in their time of need by offering tangible support in the form of free food and basic essentials.
Our Christian values are central to everything we do, for we believe that the greatest command is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbour as much as we love ourselves.
With the rising cost of living, more and more Australians are finding themselves struggling to make ends meet. This is where we step in to offer a helping hand to those in need.
The people we assist come from various walks of life:
Our vision is to eliminate food insecurity for all Australians. We see Australia as a nation where every individual and family has access to food, ensuring that no one goes to bed hungry.
Love For Australia was established in 2012 with the aim of supporting those in financial crisis across various communities in Australia.
Initially, our focus was on supporting indigenous families in the Darug area and pensioners living in a retirement village in Stanhope Gardens NSW with essential groceries and household items.
Over time, our efforts expanded to help a broader range of people dealing with financial difficulties.
When the Windsor and Richmond floods struck in early 2020, we began distributing food boxes to those impacted. Subsequently, during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020-2021, we began delivering groceries to families in isolation, operating out of our humble home.
As COVID-19 cases decreased and restrictions lifted towards the end of 2021, we began planning for our next project. Recognising that not everyone may use or like everything in a pre-packed food box/hamper we decided to open the Love For Australia Store.
This store allows people to shop with dignity where customers can select the groceries they need and prefer, ultimately reducing food wastage.
The store officially opened its doors to the public on 1st January 2022, marking a new chapter in our journey of assisting those in need.
The Lee family had humble beginnings. Founders Esther & James migrated to Australia from Indonesia in the early 1980s. They experienced first hand the struggles that many individuals and families face when they are in financial crisis. They experienced the feeling of uncertainty, fear and worry of not being able to provide for their loved ones.
Having walked in these shoes, our family committed to extending a hand of compassion and support to those who are facing similar challenges.
Love For Australia was created with the aim of being the support system that some people may lack during times of financial crisis caused by life's unexpected curveballs. It's more than just about providing food; sometimes it's about offering a listening ear or a word of encouragement during life’s toughest moments.
1 John 4:19
We try to keep things simple by cutting the red tape, ensuring help is quickly and easily accessible to those who currently need it.
We welcome product requests especially from those who have strict dietary or medical conditions to ensure people get what they need.
We are committed to offering products that are of good quality. We do not offer items that have passed its "use-by" date or any rotten fruit and vegetables.
We do not want people feeling they are getting leftovers or what is left at the bottom of the barrel.
Ultimately, we want each person to shop with dignity, and feel supported, loved and valued.
As our name suggests, we simply want each person who walks through our doors to feel loved and cared for. We cultivate a culture of acceptance and warmth, not one of judgement or criticism.
